Mat Fees

We are now allowing students to pay mat fees to train at the school. The mat fee is $10 for the strength and conditioning class and $30 for the MMA class. Payments are expected before class begins.

We are changing our classes and times.

As of Monday February 7, 2011, we will no longer run 2 separate Strength and Conditioning classes. The two classes will be merged into the 7:00 to 7:35 time slot. The class will be run as the MMA class was, so there will be no lag in training.

The Adults MMA Class will now begin at 7:35pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and at 10:35am on Saturdays.

We are excited to announce that we are moving our location to Atlas Fitness which is located at 2298 Arthur Kill Rd Staten Island, NY 10309. We will have our last class at Athletic Edge on Monday September 27. Classes will resume Saturday October 2. The location has a full boxing ring and is much larger than our current location. If you need any info please speak to us at the school tomorrow or feel free to call Sam or myself. We apologize for the lack of notice.

Strength and Conditioning Classes

We will begin the strength and conditioning program on Monday May 17. Classes on May 17 will be free for all who attend!! We will no longer offer free classes to first time clients after this date.

The classes will be $10 each and there will be no contracts for your convenience. The classes will be scheduled for 7-7:35pm and 7:35-8:10pm.

Adults MMA will begin at 8:10pm.

If you run Internet Explorer 8 you will probably find that our website is not working. Our web-page software is not being read by this version. If you have a prior version you will not have this problem. We are working on this and the issue should be resolved soon.

Grading October 31, 2009

We will be holding a belt grading for our adult students on Saturday October 31 at 10am. The fee for the grading is $50.00 due before the grading begins. Cardio and adult MMA classes are cancelled on that day!!

Rules Change

Beginning November 1, 2009 no student will be allowed to spar in class if they are not properly attired. There will be no exceptions unless gear is not available in your size for purchase. We take pride in our school, and we want you to as well !!

Sensei Lou Loses at Grapplers Quest

Unfortunately Sensei Lou lost by tapout due to Triangle Choke at the Grapplers Quest Competition in Jersey City, but the match was very competitive. The experience was excellent though as we got to see kids, teens, women, and men from other schools compete at a pretty high level. We would like to include our students in these events, and we will make announcements regarding this in class at a later date.

Greetings, my name is Louis Vignone and I am co owner of Ultimate Self Defense of New York INC. (pending) I have started this blog to help promote the school and the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. My partners name is Samir Bennani and we are both 1st degree Black Belts in Sensei John Campetella's Integrated Self Defense Systems.

I am happy to announce that we have applied for a Corporation license in the State of New York!!
